International Exchange on Cyberpsychology
Blended Intensive Programmes in Dublin
Ireland, Estonia, Germany – students from three countries, one common topic: Cyberpsychology. As part of a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), seven students from the Medien- und Wirtschaftspsychologie and Informationsdesign courses spent an intensive week in Dublin at the Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT).
At IADT, the days began with scones, coffee and tea before moving on to various topics in cyberpsychology. The programme included lectures on Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Gaming, Misinformation, Social Psychology of the Internet and Computer-mediated Communication. The lecturers provided exciting perspectives on the various topics and discussed international perspectives with the students. At IADT, students experience a modern, inclusive and open institute with a clear creative focus on media, art and technology. This atmosphere was quickly noticeable on site: during a campus tour, student projects were visible in the corridors, costumes and masks were being worked on, and film sets were being built.
International Cxchange Beyond Learning
In addition to the academic content, the students explored Dublin and got to know Irish culture. Together with Irish and Estonian students, the group discovered the city, took part in a traditional Irish dance night and attended a ball organised by students from the Applied Psychology (B.Sc.) programme. The exchange went far beyond the academic. Different perspectives and intercultural experiences shaped the week, as did working together in international teams.
Students' conclusion
The BIP offered an intensive, inspiring and enriching week. "We would do it again in a heartbeat! We felt welcome right from the start and came away with lots of new ideas," was the students' conclusion. In addition to the academic input, it was exciting to attend lectures in English, make new contacts and get to know the IADT as a creative and open place.
About the BIP
Blended Intensive Programmes are short, international study formats within the framework of Erasmus and enable international cooperation. They combine a virtual component with a joint stay on site at a partner university. The BIP at IADT took place from 23rd to 27th of February 2026 and will be completed in March with a virtual part.
